Over Christmas Eve 2023, Fulani Muslim herdsmen descended upon the small Nigerian Christian hamlet of Mayanga, brutally killing over 140 Christians in a bloody assault. Characterized blandly by the United Nations as an "ethno-religious conflict," Christians have repeatedly been targeted for mass killings that seem to go unnoticed by the media. In May of this year, mobs of Muslim herdsmen attacked Christian villages in several states, slaughtering nearly 700 peaceful Christian farmers. Radical Muslim leaders characterized the mass slaughter as a "farewell gift" to their outgoing President Muhamadu Buhar who used his tenure to pursue an anti-Christian pro-Muslim agenda in Africa's most populated country. All of the attacks have the earmarks of systematic genocide of Christians with little fact of it being a benign "conflict." The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, one of the very few organizations keeping track of the exploding numbers of Muslim atrocities against Nigerian Christians, released an alarming report for the year 2022. Their findings reveal that over 5,000 Christians were murdered by Muslim attackers with another 3,000 abducted in the last calendar year. The Society also released an in depth study illustrating that 52,250 innocent Christians have been ruthlessly slaughtered since the beginning of the militant Boko Haram Islamist insurgency in 2009. In the mid 2010's, Boko Haram was the world's deadliest terror organization in terms of numbers killed, mostly Christians, with Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon suffering the worst of the Muslim onslaught. Such revolting carnage has completely escaped the attention of American media which rarely mentions Africa at all in their broadcasts as the political points to be won are minimal. Likewise the often outspoken Pope Francis, who likes to wade into the shallow end concerning political events, has remained strangely quiet over the slaughter of so many Christian adherents. Perhaps if it were Israelis doing the killing, the media and the Pontiff would eagerly lend their political expertise and condemnation of such "barbaric human rights offenses." One does not have to guess as to the motivation behind their ignorance and acquiescence of Christian Genocide. For "some" reason, this violence escapes the Leftist news organizations.
